Sally Rousse
Dancer / Choreographer

Having performed much of the classical and neoclassical repertoire to both audience and critical acclaim, Sally has primarily distinguished herself in over 60 original works by living choreographers. It is in these ballets where she has developed two qualities that set her apart from other dancers: her unusual pointe work and her completely collaborative partnering technique. Both qualities have enabled Sally and and her fellow dance artists to achieve greater expressiveness and beauty in their work. Sally began her training in Barre, Vermont with Ruth Vickery. She continued her studies at St. Paul's School with Richard Rein and attended the School of American Ballet and Joffrey School in New York before becoming a leading dancer with such companies as Ballet Chicago, Garden State Ballet, and the Royal Ballet of Flanders (Belgium). Sally is currently on sabbatical from James Sewell Ballet, where she has been dancing for the past 11 years. She is raising her daughter with husband James Sewell and creating an original evening-length ballet with acclaimed aerial theater artist Chelsea Bacon about brain disorders and savantism to premiere in September, 2002.
